Kokee, along ridge out from Power Station at hairpin turn off of Hwy 550 / Waimea Canyon Drive.
Plant Description:
3 ft. tall. Lvs and stems hanging. New leaves and some lower leaves dark red. Pods inflated mostly 3 winged, rarely 2 winged. Pods green w/ pink/red tinge. Leaves shinny dark green above and medium green below w/ scratchy texture. Leaves upright. Bark w/ longitudinal fissures. Common.
Habitat:
Diverse Mesic A.koa and Metrosideros Forest on ridges and Dodonea-Leptocaphylla shrubland below.
Associated Species:
Metrosideros, Acacia koa, Bidens, Leptocaphylla, Dodonea, Santalum, Kadua affinis, & Carex.
