Plant Description:
Herb with pseudostems to 2.5 m tall, leaves distichous, green. Inflorescence basal, erect, 30 cm tall, bracts brick red, flower yellow. Fruits blue-black, seeds black, aromatic when crushed. Occasional in understory.
Habitat:
Secondary and primary wet forest and cloud forest along nature trail.
Associated Species:
Abundant palms, ferns and lycophytes.

Voucher for seed collection and living collection
