To`aga site on island's S coast, National Park of American Samoa between coastal road and shoreline.
Plant Description:
Tree 6 m tall w basal prop roots, 4 lateral branches. Stamin ate plant, inflorescence pendent, 70 cm long w 14 branches, bracts creamy white with green tips, post-anthesis. Lvs. cha nneled, teeth white w brown tips. Samoan name: paogo.

Habitat:
Littoral forest over coral sand.
Associated Species:
Hernandia nymphaeifolia , Guettarda speciosa, Terminalia samoensis, Cocos, Pandanus tectorius, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Sophora tomentosa, with understory of Phymatosorus, Wollastonia, and naturalized herbs.
