Shrub to 4m tall; dbh 15cm; flowers bract red; fruits green maturing yellow. N.V. Uhtin Taiwan [Pohnpeian] Taiwan's banana.
Medicial Use Notes:
'Meristem: Coolant. for sprain, external and internal bruising. Take meristem ("heart") of young plan t, mash it and put on sprain -gives cool feeling. Lessen swelling and bruising. Drink liquid from th e mass of stem, the more the better -will help greatly with painful internal bruising and external b ruising. Also can put mashed meristem in large tub and lay in it as well.'
