Plant Description:
Herb to 1 m tall, flowers yellow, fruits green. Palauan Name: Seboseb, Ubechub.
Ethnobotanical Notes:
Use: Food/clothing-The roots are collected and ground into pieces, then the juice is squeezed into a bucket. Starch settles on the bottom and the water is discarded. The starch is then dried in the sun, and used to make desserts, jellied fruits, starch clothes. It is considered "the best starch". (KT) Local expert: Dirabelluu Kerengel Tesei (f, 72).
Habitat:
Mangrove forest, and nearby stone path.
