Herbaceous vine, stems twining dextrorsely (clock-wise). Sterile, common on vegetation along roadside. Naturalized. Samoan name: soi.

Littoral forest.
Associated Species:
With Hernandia nympha eifolia, Guettarda speciosa, Barringtonia asiatica, mixed with agroforest plantings of coconut and bananas, over coral sand substrate
