Plant Description:
Rhizomatous herb, stems 1.5 m tall, leaves spiral. Infl. bracts, ovary, and calyx dark red, tepals pink. Naturalized and common locally.
Habitat:
Evergreen mesic forest and agroforest.
Associated Species:
With Ficus, Artocarpus altilis, Areca catechu, Heterospathe elata, Cocos , Ceiba pentandra, Osmoxylon, flat areas with deep soils interspersed with limestone outcrops.
