Locality:
Northern end of island, Hanapuo'o valley, between Tehape and Tenihofati ridges; narrow valley with intermittent stream, basalt boulders.
Plant Description:
Erect herb reaching 2 m (juveniles collected), leaf blade held erect, at about 45 degrees to petiole, petiole mottled brownish green. Naturalized locally near waterfall at head of valley.
Associated Species:
Valley bottom with Thespesia populnea dominant, also Hibiscus tiliaceus, Morinda citrifolia, Inocarpus, Ficus prolixa, and understory of Nephrolepis and Phymatosorus ferns.
