Plant Description:
Juvenile specimen. Large herb with an erect stem. Leaf blades on adult plants reach approximately 2 m in height an stand erect. V.N. [Samoan] taamu.
Habitat:
Abandoned plantation.
Associated Species:
Canopy dominated by Macaranga harveyana, Artocarpus altilis and Cocos nucifera. Mucuna gigantea found clamboring in canopy. Understory composed of juvenile Artocarpus altilis and Cocos nucifer, including an abundance of Asplenium nidus.
