On ridge between Paaiki and Mahanaloa.
Plant Description:
20 ft. tall. Leaves dark green with fine raised veins, below lighter green. Flowers with green calyx covered in thick brown pubescence, 3 corolla lobes yellow w/ brown tint. Bark black w/ white mottling. Multi-trunked from base, 6 smaller upright trunks and 1 slightly larger slight procumbent w/ many side upward branches. Fruit yellow to orange soft when mature, olive size and larger. Seed 1- 3 per fruit golden brown. NTBG acc. #060978
Habitat:
Diospyros – Grevilla mixed mesic forest.
Associated Species:
W/ Metrosideros polymorpha, Sida fallax, Dodonea viscosa, Leptecophylla tameiameiae, Eragrostis variabilis, Alyxia oliviformis, Psydrax odorata, Doodia kunthiana,, Carex sp., Pleomele, Antidesma, Aleurites, Coprosma waimeae.
