Plant Description:
Fruits round with stout (7cm) stalk deeply inserted into raised neck of elongated sections. Smooth with brown stigma dot in center of sections. No seeds. Male inflorescence stout, 16-17x5-6 cm. Leaves symmetrical, moderately dissected with four pairs of close, overlapping lobes with undulate margins. Dark, thick, leathery, glossy blade with yellow veins. Many long stiff hairs on upper veins. Underside rough due to profuse short hairs on lower veins. Tree ~ 7 m with typhoon damage. NTBG acc. #890162

Ethnobotany: Breadfruit is not an important crop in any of the Mariana islands. There are very few wild dugdug trees and only few of the two types of seedless lemai due to WWII and typhoons since then. Tinian has only a very few trees of lemai or dugdug.
