North tip of island. Around old Japanese buildings.
Plant Description:
Ginger to 2 m tall. Common in understory. Flowers white to pale purple. Fruits bright red when ripe.
Habitat:
Weedy, open 2nd growth forest.
Associated Species:
Common spp. Include Macaranga, Ficus, Osmoxylon, and Heterospatha elata palms in overstory, Microsorium scolopendria and Merremia peltata vines in understory. Large Cycad individual nearby.
