Upper Limahuli Valley. Hanakapiai or West Drainage, next to stream and on East side stream bank in shade.
Plant Description:
Flowers large and white. Lvs and stem w/ fetid smell when crushed. Stems scandant. Upper leaf dk green with slightly raised venation w/ purple leaf apex and spots. Lower leaf surface plastic light green w/ raised vein and midrib and purple staining in vein reticulation. Calyx 2/3 corolla tube length, green.
Habitat:
Metrosideros-Dicranopteris wet montane forest.
Associated Species:
W/ Syzygium sandwicensis, Psychotria mariniana, Melicope feddei, Chierodendron, Charpentiera elliptica, mixed in the canopy, and Broussaisia, Coprosma, Perrottetia sandwicensis, Cyanea sylvestris, Saddleria, Boehmeria grandis, Pipturus ruber, Nertera grandensis, Scaevola, and Clidemia in the understory.
