Locality:
N Fork of Wailua River trail to “Blue Hole” and base of Mt. Waialeale, side gulch to the NE side of the first falls that one must go around. At the beginning of the stream on SW side, 15 ft back from side stream.
Plant Description:
Tree about 8 ft tall. Bud & immature fruit. Top of leaf med green w/ even scattered hairs on small raised bumps. Lower leaf lighter green w/ longer hairs over entire surface. Petiole and new lvs w/ brown hairs. Flw bud red w/ scattered haris on dk green 10 lobed calyx. Leaf venation reticulate in sunlight. Some leaves w/ chew from outside. Cuttings from 3 trees, NTBG # 090202.
Habitat:
Wet lowland forest.

W/ Metrosideros polymorpha, Tetraplasandra oahuensis, Psychotria mariniana, Broussaisia arguta, Perrottetia, Pipturus, Melicope paniculata, Dubautia knudsenii subsp. nagatae, Pouteria, Freycinetia, Kadua affinis, Cyrtandra pickeringii, Syzygium sandwicensis, Melicope feddei, Nephrolepis exaltata, Sadleria cyatheoides, Cyanea fissa gayana, Antidesma, Elaphoglossum crassicaule, Adenophorus pinnatifidus.
