Makaleha Mtns., Kapaahi, End of Kahuna Rd, past water tank, along stream and up along East Ridge. purple. Buds purple w/ white stripes, larger buds w/ lower portion pure purple. NE facing slope, full sun.
Plant Description:
3 unbranched plants in immediate area. Plant 15 ft. tall. Abaxial surface of laf green w/ purple tinge, veins raised. Top of leaf yellow-green. Margins toothed.
Habitat:
Metrosideros – Dicranopteris Wet Lowland forest.
Associated Species:
W/ Melastoma candium, Tetraplasandra oahuensis, Freycinetia arborea, Clidemia hirta var. hirta, Cordyline fruticosa.
