Waimea Canyon, Upper Koaia Canyon. Lower slopes of N-facing canyon wall, base of Root Trail.
Plant Description:
Tree trunk 10 ft tall main trunk, dead at top. Lumpy side branches coming out w/ leathery dk green leaves with lateral secondary veins yellow in sunlight. Petiole reddish green. Inflo pendent, red. NTBG acc. #070936.
Habitat:
Diverse Mesic-Wet transitional forest.
Associated Species:
W/ Metrosideros, Dodonea, Pittosporum, Pipturus, Nestegis, Melicope, Xylosma hawaiiense, Antidesma, Bobea, Alectryon macrococcus var. macrococcus, Pleomeles, Alyxia,Charpentiera elliptica, Lipochaeta connata subsp. connata, Diospyros, understory of ferns.
