Upper Limahuli Valley. Hanakapiai or West Drainage, next to stream and on East side stream bank in shade.
Plant Description:
Group of trees next to stream. About 12 ft. tall. Lvs dark green glossy above w/ raised lateral veins & yellow midrib, below leaf light green w/ slightly raised lateral veins; petiole at base purple & color difusing into leaf midrib; peduncle purple. Lvs. Elliptic to lanceolate. NTBG acc. #080911.
Habitat:
Metrosideros-Dicranopteris wet montane forest.
Associated Species:
W/ Syzygium sandwicensis, Psychotria mariniana, Melicope feddei, Chierodendron, mixed in the canopy, Broussaisia, Coprosma, Perrottetia sandwicensis, Cyanea sylvestris, Saddleria, Boehmeria grandis, Pipturus ruber, Nertera grandensis, Scaevola, and Clidemia in the understory.
