Locality:
north side of Kalalau Valley, east of Keanapuka Falls.
Plant Description:
vine, scandent up Metrosideros 7 m, several plants in early flower and fruit
Habitat:
20–90% open fernland of Dicranopteris and Diplopterygium on moderate to steep mesic ridges and slopes.
Associated Species:
W/ Pteridium aquilinum var. decompositum, Cibotium nealiae, Nephrolepis exaltata subsp. hawaiiensis, Sphenomeris chinensis, Doodia kunthiana, and Lycopodiella cernua and 5–30% cover of native shrubs and trees, Metrosideros polymorpha, Santalum, Scaevola procera, Kadua affinis. Sedges and grasses are present (< 5% cover), Machaerina mariscoides, Eragrostis variabilis, Carex meyenii, and Gahnia beecheyi. Vines of Alyxia stellata and Canavalia napaliensis.
