Trees are also cultivated in coastal areas of Babeldaob. Fruit bats observed carrying sections of fruits as they flew, distributing seeds throughout the islands. On Babeldaob the name Ebiei refers to both trees and fruit, while dekar refers to the seeds. Peleliuans call trees and fruit dekar. The name Meduuliou means 'breadfruit of below', found mainly in the southern, lower regions of Palau. Informant: Naito Soaladaob. Remove seeds from ripe fruits, boil in salted water.
