Nan Madol. Growing within Nan Dowas, the largest structure. In right front courtyard as you enter from the main canal.
Plant Description:
Fruits very large, heavy (~4 kg) with strong stalk inserted into open concavity. Pebbly with hard raised or pyramidal sections flattened on top. Glossy or waxy, light-green skin. Leaves moderately dissected with 1-3 pairs of overlapping lobes with undulate margins and a very large tip. Very supple, glossy blade. Long white hairs on upper veins. Large tree, > 1 m. diameter with large spreading buttress roots. Tree 15-18 m.

Ethnobotanical Notes:
One of the last cultivars of thew season. Trees planted inside the massive stone walls in 1950's; the large roots are damaging archaeological site.
