Plant Description:
Mei arephe. Fruits ovoid. Heavy bearer w/ 2-4 fruits/ branch. Pronounced neck with 2-3 rows of elongated, swollen sections. Pebbly w/ rubbery, rounded or pyramidal sections flattened on top w/ persistent brown stigma dot. Glossy or waxy, light-green skin turns pale green-yellow when ripe. Sections slightly separate when ripe showing pale yellow between. Creamy white when immature turning pale to deep yellow; fused only on upper 1/4. Minute aborted seeds. Core discolors red but little discoloration of flesh when cut. Leaves moderately dissected w/ variable lobe number: 1+2, 2+4, with three pairs and 2+3 lobes most common. Dark green, brittle with yellow veins. Profuse long white hairs on upper veins. No to very few appressed hairs on lower veins. Tree 7.5 m. DBH 29.6 cm.
