Plant Description:
Tree to 15 m, dbh 40 cm. Young sapling (sterile) is collected. N.V. Nmarasau [Pohnpeian].
Ethnobotanical Notes:
leaves: Antiamebic. Amoebic dysentery (probably), illness with bad stomach and bloody stool, smells bad, fever. Pound 4 leaves, add skin (bark) of "mwarop", put in cloth, squeeze in one 8 oz cup of water. Drink medicine for one day or can be taken for longer.
Informants: Robert David, Pohnpei, male, 45 years old; Katarina Tom, Pohnpei, female, 39 years old. She was chosen to learn in the family, taught by grandfather, Sohnis Ihda.
Habitat:
Secondary forest with trees 40-50 m tall.
