Mahanaloa Valley, below confluence of Kuia & Mahanaloa Stream, on north facing slopes, just east of Pteralyxia exclosure on lip of cliff; western most pop.
Plant Description:
4 m tall moderately branched tree, ca 35 cm diameter at base with dark brown bark and logitudenal fissures in bark; 2 mature trees at location, no regeneration; 9 seed collected for NTBG; leaf for isozyme [U. of Colo.].
Habitat:
Kauai diverse mesic forest.
Associated Species:
Pleomele aurea, Psychotria mariniana, Delissea niihauensis subsp kauaiensis.
