Manua Islands: National Park of American Samoa, To`aga site, between coastal road and shoreline, near eastern end of park by boundary sign.
Plant Description:
Large, densely branching shrub 4 m tall, branches forming tangle, leaves gray-green beneath. Corolla yellow fading pale orange, with dark purple spot within at base. Locally abundant to dominant, indigenous. Samoan name: fau.
Habitat:
Littoral forest.
Associated Species:
Hibiscus tiliaceus, Guettarda specioca, and Pandanus tectorius over coral sand.
