Na Pali coast, Hanakapiai valley, west side of valley slopes below Pohakea, 22 deg. 11.652'N & 159 deg. 35.878'W north facing steep slopes.
Plant Description:
Small tree 5 meter ht. leaves subcoriaceous, elliptic, margins crenate, flower orange, calyx 3 cm. lobes dentate, glandular pubescent, involucral bracts ca. 5 mm.
Habitat:
In Metrosideros- Diospyros mesic forest.
Associated Species:
Pisonia, Pritchardia limahuliensis Euphorbia haeleeleana, Santalum f., Rauvolfia, Wikstroemia, Pouteria sandwicensis, Alyxia, Ochrosia kauaiensis, Lantana, Alphitonia, Pteralyxia kauaiensis, Kalanchoe, Erigeron.
