Plant Description:
2--4 m tall, moderately branched tree, in brown granular soil, ca 20 trees along steeply dropping ridge with north aspect above gulch bottom and near Polypodium helleri pop., in flower, corolla orange.
Habitat:
Metrosideros-Acacia montane mesic forest with patches of diverse mesic.
Associated Species:
Alphitonia ponderosa, Psychotria greenwelliae, Melicope ovata & M. barbigera, Pouteria sandwicensis, Tetraplasandra kauaiensis, Dodonaea viscosa, Wikstroemia furcata, Styphelia tameiameiae.
