Plant Description:
Tree, 2 m tall, in forest understory, moderately branched, stems medium green, leaves glossy medium green, young calyx reddish, few observed in forest, more common on cliffs.
Habitat:
Diospyros spp mixed mesic forest.
Associated Species:
Pouteria sandwicensis, Antidesma platyphyllum, Psychotria mariniana, Tetraplasandra kavaiensis, Rauvolfia sandwicensis, Pteralyxia sandwicensis, Metrosideros polymorpha, Alectryon macrococcus, Pleomele aurea. Ground Cover: Doodia kunthiana, Diplazium sandwicianum, Carex meyenii, Carex wahuensis.
