Tree with dbh 30 cm; fruits yellow when ripe. N.V. Marasau [Pohnpeian]
Ethnobotanical Notes:
Fruits. Charm. Magic. Used in place where there is a robbery or theft - such as stealing sakau. Put 4 fruits and some other plant parts in the hole where sakau was taken - will act to cripple the thief!
Young inflorescences. Charm. Magic. If someone sends rats or mice to your place. Pound young inflorescence with other plants. Place it where the mice congregate, mice will return to the person who sent them, thus they stop eating your yam, rice, ect.
Stems. Trap. Once used as snare for wild chicken.
