Locality:
Lihue-Koloa Forest Reserve, heading SE from ridge connecting Hulua and Kapalaoa peaks (870m) down into hanging valley (740 m) above unnamed tributary N of Wahiawa Stream.
Plant Description:
Tree 3 m tall, leaves subcoriaceous; corolla orange-yellow, fleshy, lobes with green dorsal ridges; tube pierced by birds. Occasional, streamside. Endemic.
Habitat:
Nearly pristine, low, mossy wet forest.
Associated Species:
Metrosideros polymorpha vars. dominant, also Antidesma, Tetraplasandra, Syzygium, Cheirodendron, etc. the understory of Cyrtandra and ferns.
