Collected on homestead beside clothes washing area.
Plant Description:
Tree, approx. 20 ft (6.1 m), leaf reddish and opposite folding inward along midribs. Stems reddish. Entire flowering part orange-red and solitary at tip of branch, no distinct smell. N.V. Ketieu [Pohnpeian]
Ethnobotanical Notes:
Branch. For making chicken trap. Cut one piece of the branch, take the young part of the plant off including the leaves, then place the branch in a hole in the ground and tie a rope to it at the end, pull and tie to another plant or tree next it. Participant: Enerihko Peter. Male.
Associated Species:
Dominant plants include ylangylang (seir), Hibiscus tiliaceus and weipwul.
