Plant Description:
hypocotyl collected around brown-booby nests; not naturalized on Lehua; perhaps mistaken as fish and gathered at sea by adult brown-boobies as food for young nestlings

Associated Species:
with Cenchrus ciliaris, Setaria verticillata, Portulaca oleracea, Jacquemontia ovalifolia interspersed with Pluchea indica, Pluchea carolinensis, and their occasional hybrid Pluchea × fosbergii, other herbaceous species include Ageratum conyzoides, Chenopodium murale, Waltheria indica, Cenchrus echinatus, and Chloris virgata.
