Locality:
Waimea Canyon, along Koaiae River 1-2 km upstream from Lonomea Shelter, on SE side of river; understory invaded by Lantana and destroyed by goats, elev. 540-600 m.
Plant Description:
Tree 12 m tall, trunk 40 cm dbh, crown rather narrow. Pods green, somewhat curling, most ovules oriented lengthwise in pods. Scattered populations locally. Endemic.
Habitat:
Steep slopes with remnants of mixed mesophytic forest.
Associated Species:
Alectryon, Diospyros, Hibiscus waimeae, Antidesma, Myrsine.
