Limahuli Valley; East side of ridge separating Limahuli and Hanakapiai valleys, above major waterfall, along main stream, and climbing above numerous small waterfalls.
Plant Description:
2 m. tall unbranched shrub. Flowers upright, corolla purple- white; calyx purple, lobes green. 12 +/- plants in area, 25-225 cm. tall. All plants above 35 cm. were in flowe r; no fruit. Plants on NW facing aspect above flood zone.

Habitat:
Undisturbed owland wet mixed forest.
Associated Species:
With Metrosideros, Antidesma, Cibotium, Hedyotis tryblium, Pipturus, Cyrtandra, Isodendrion longifolium, and numerous pteridophytes.
