Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic printing techniques, invented in 1842 by British scientist Sir John Herschel. Botanist Anna Atkins first used it in 1843 to document her algae studies. This process uses a UV-ray-sensitive solution that turns the exposed areas into vibrant cyan blue when exposed to sunlight. Any object or leaf on the paper will block the light, creating a beautiful and unique sun-printed image.
Following in Anna Atkins’ footsteps, we will create stunning images inspired by the natural beauty and unique shapes of the tropical plants at The Kampong, one of Miami’s most beautiful gardens.
