Allerton and McBryde Garden

Allerton and McBryde Garden
You will get a taste of both worlds on this tour! Our highly-trained interpretive guide will take you through a behind the scenes tour of Allerton Garden rooms and McBryde Garden highlights. Enjoy the greatest aspects of both gardens. Walk through Allerton Garden, named one of the ’50 Places of a Lifetime’ by National Geographic Traveler. Then have a guided experience through our McBryde Garden, an active conservation and research garden with active interpretation and Hawaiian cultural significance. Limahuli Garden

Limahuli Garden
Our garden staff member will guide you through Limahuli Garden. You will have the opportunity to learn the stories of Hawaiian history, culture, natural history, and plants unfold during your visit. As you enjoy legends that abound about this ancient valley, you’ll see the features that inspired them. This behind the scenes tour offers you a deeper understanding of the delicate balance of the ecosystem in both ancient and modern times, and how today’s stewardship of the land is modeled after the traditional practices of its earliest inhabitants.

Kahanu Garden

Kahanu Garden
Your experience at Kahanu Garden will reward you with a deeper connection and sense of place. Your guided will reveal archaeological features and intriguing stories and share with you the captivating tales of a region so rooted in history.
Hear the mo’olelo (stories) of ancient Hawai’i and of Chief Pi’ilani who ruled over these lands in the 16th century. You will see firsthand some of the traditional uses of the plants brought to the islands by the first Hawaiians. Many of our guides grew up in this culturally rich region and are experts in practices and traditions passed down to them by their elders.

The Kampong Garden

The Kampong Garden
Located on Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove, Florida, The Kampong contains a fascinating array of tropical fruit cultivars and flowering trees. Named for the Malay or Javanese word for a village or cluster of houses, The Kampong is the former estate of Dr. David Fairchild, the famed botanical explorer who traveled throughout Southeast Asia and other tropical regions collecting exotic plants he introduced to the U.S.As part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden family of gardens, this is a choice opportunity to enjoy this hidden urban garden.

Native Plant Consultation for your home or business on Kauai

Enjoy this once in a lifetime consultation service from our Curator of Living Collections Mike DeMotta. He will share the important role that native plants play in Hawaiian culture and share care tips for your plants at home. You will have the opportunity to choose a plant for your home!
