The Kampong
On January 11th, 2025, join artists Lee Pivnik and Lauren Shapiro for an inspiring Seed Sculpting Workshop at The Kampong, part of the closing celebrations for their residency project, studiolab. This site-specific project has transformed The Kampong into a living laboratory and artist studio, delving into the archives of The Kampong and the research of Florida International University’s International Center for Tropical Botany.
The workshop will take place on-site at The Kampong and is inspired by guerrilla gardening practices. Participants will craft ephemeral sculptures from wildflower seeds, clay, and soil, designed to be planted at home to support the restoration of native wildflowers.
