Kampong Lecture Series

Guest Speaker Ombretta Agró Andruff, from ARTsail

Thursday, September 20, 2018 – 6:30pm

Join us at The Kampong on September 20, 2018 for our monthly lecture series with guest speaker Ombretta Agró Andruff, from ARTsail.

ARTSail originated in 2015 thanks to a Knight Arts Challenge grant to the ArtCenter/South Florida. A nomadic residency, ARTSail facilitates interdisciplinary practice to cultural producers in the creation of innovative content addressing the climate change crisis specific to South Florida. Juried residents advance projects on sea level rise, coral bleaching/restoration, and increasing salinity in the Everglades in the creation of new work. Three cultural producers have completed month-long residencies and new proposals with emphasis on activism and communication are in development. It is the only program in South Florida premised on access to ocean-going vessels and scientific practitioners for creative and climate change inquiry. This interdisciplinary engagement facilitates advocacy for public policy by leveraging the masterful capacity of artists to communicate.
