Join us for an intensive hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art and science of grafting mango trees to propagate superior varieties and accelerate fruit production in your own yard. Grafting allows you to combine the best characteristics of different mango cultivars – whether you’re seeking disease resistance, improved flavor, faster bearing, or multiple varieties on a single tree – and this class will teach you the techniques to do it successfully. Through guided practice, you’ll develop the precise knife skills needed to make clean cuts, learn how to properly align cambium layers for optimal healing, and master the wrapping and sealing techniques that protect your grafts as they establish. We’ll cover the best timing for grafting in our climate, how to select and store scion wood, care for newly grafted trees, and troubleshoot common problems that can cause graft failure. Whether you’re looking to preserve heirloom varieties, create a multi-grafted mango tree with several cultivars, or simply produce fruit more quickly than growing from seed, you’ll leave with the practical skills and confidence to successfully graft mangoes and expand your tropical fruit garden.
