Join us at The Kampong for a foraged Ikebana workshop led by Janae of Plant Psyche, a botanical artist whose work centers on ecology and sustainable design.
We’ll begin with a guided walk through the garden and a conversation on mindful, regenerative design. Participants will be allowed to clip flowers, leaves and branches from designated plants that grow abundantly on the property (clippers are provided).
The second part of the workshop will introduce the fundamentals of Ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement, using the foraged materials gathered from the garden. Each participant will create their own arrangement to take home along with a still life photo of their creation.
Guests are welcome to bring their own vessel and kenzan (no larger than 10″x10″). For those who don’t have one, vessels and kenzans will also be available for purchase on the day of class.
The goal of this workshop is to inspire participants to find beauty in their own backyards and to connect with the landscape around them.
Rates are $25 for NTBG Members, $35 for non-members.
