The Kampong (4013 S Douglas Road Miami FL 33133)
Celebrate National Poetry Month with SWWIM and The Kampong–no poetry experience required! Guests at this tropical tea party and creative workshop will write their own poems inspired by the life of Eleanor Galt Simmons, the pioneer doctor who traveled through the mangroves by sailboat and treated early Grove residents on The Kampong property. Let The Kampong be your muse; the SWWIM editors will be your guides! Light refreshments will be served. Tea party attire is encouraged!
SWWIM (Supporting Women Writers in Miami) was co-founded by Jen Karetnick and Catherine Esposito Prescott. SWWIM is a nonprofit organization that sustains and amplifies women poets by creating a living archive of contemporary poetry, cultivating community, and connecting poets across generations while solidifying Miami as a nexus for the literary arts.
Rates are $35 for NTBG Members, $45 for non-members
