11:00am – 2:00pm
The Kampong
Bring two pre-loved garments to renew by dyeing them in a natural indigo vat. Participants will learn to tie, fold and wrap textiles using the Shibori resist dyeing technique to create beautiful patterns over their pieces. We will have an open discussion about indigo, its history, and properties.
Allowed clothing includes two of the following: small pieces (e.g hat, socks, onesie, small knitted tops, tote bag), Medium pieces (e.g shirts, t-shirts, light summer dresses or light pants). Garments should be 100% made with cellulose natural fibers (cotton, linen, hemp, viscose, tencel, modal, ramie). Pieces with 5-10% synthetics (polyester, nylon, elastane) are also welcome. Garments need to be prewashed. Restrictions: No heavy denim, thick pants or oversized items (bedsheets, heavy jackets, voluminous dresses).
Rates are $58 for NTBG Members, $68 for non-members.
