McBryde Garden visitors can explore 50 acres of diverse plant collections including Hawaiian native and ethnobotanical species, palms, rubiaceae (coffee family), zingiberales (heliconia family), and erythrina (coral trees). See exotic spices from allspice to vanilla on the Spice of Life Trail, and take a journey back in time in the Hawaiian Life Canoe Plant Garden and along the Biodiversity Trail.

Treat yourself and someone you love to a special tour of the Allerton Garden at Sunset. Once a favorite destination of the rich and famous, the Allertons hosted notable individuals, such as Jacqueline Kennedy, in their home and garden.
The Sunset Tour is the only tour that takes visitors through select Allerton Garden rooms and to the house where the Allertons lived.
At the house, visitors will enjoy the Allertons’ personal collection of pictures and memorabilia and finish the tour with a beverage and light dinner on the stunning lanai as the sun sets into the Pacific.
Allerton Garden is a landscape architecture masterpiece named one of the ’50 Places of a Lifetime’ by National Geographic Traveler.
Guided tours of the Allerton Garden are part garden tour, part art exhibit and entirely unique. Visitors are guided through expertly crafted garden rooms that feature exotic plants, sculptures, and water features.

A guided tour of Kahanu Garden will reward you with a deeper experience and sense of place. Your guide will reveal archaeological features and intriguing stories not covered in the self-guided tour, and share with you the captivating tales of a region so rooted in history.
Hear the mo'olelo (stories) of ancient Hawai'i and of Chief Pi'ilani who ruled over these lands in the 16th century. You will see firsthand some of the traditional uses of the plants brought to the islands by the first Hawaiians. Many of our guides grew up in this culturally rich region and are experts in practices and traditions passed down to them by their elders.

Explore Limahuli Valley as an outdoor classroom. Listen to the singing birds of the forest, the splashing waters of the stream, and hear stories of the valley that teach lessons about relationships and behaviors. This is recommended for families interested in guided tours.

Stand dwarfed by an 80-year old baobab tree from Tanzania that weighs almost 50 tons! Delight in the intoxicating fragrance of flowering plants prized by the perfume industry. Marvel at the fascinating fruits and flowering trees from the tropics. Your tour begins when you check in at the estate’s main house; an informational guide with map will be provided. Take your time strolling from the main house to the bay to other notable sites on the property. Picnics welcome.

Greeted by a mythical goddess whose head hauntingly appears from the roots of a banyan tree, your visit begins at the entrance gate. Stroll with your guide through legacy plantings as you hear the story of David Fairchild, why he made this spot his home, and how his plant collections influenced the diets of the American people. Make your way to the museum which once served as Fairchild’s study and laboratory. Enter the Fairchild-Sweeney House and learn how Kay Sweeney saved the property from development after Fairchild’s death. View the historical documents and photographs that led to the creation of the Florida Everglades as a national park. At the conclusion of your guided tour, feel free to meander on your own to The Point on Biscayne Bay and explore the garden further.
