Movie Night at the Garden

Join National Tropical Botanical Garden on October 20th for a free movie night at the South Shore Visitors Center featuring Disney Pixar's Coco. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the movie will begin just after sunset.

This family-friendly event features a free movie, food trucks and entertainment for all ages. 

National Tropical Botanical Garden is a non profit organization and network of botanical gardens, research centers, and preserves dedicated to plant conservation, research and education. Donations awill be accepted. 

Mary Poppins Returns

National Tropical Botanical Garden invites everyone, residents and visitors alike, to a special screening of Mary Poppins Returns at “Movie Nights at the Garden” on Saturday, May 18th 2019. The free screening will take place on the meadow at the South Shore Visitor’s Center at 4425 Lāwa‘i Road in Po‘ipū, across from Spouting Horn. Gates open at 5:00 PM and the movie will start shortly after sunset. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low beach chairs for seating. Food & drinks from several local food trucks will be available for purchase.


Easter Eggstravaganza

National Tropical Botanical Garden will be throwing an Easter Eggstravaganza on Sunday, April 21st from 10 AM – 12 PM at the South Shore Visitors Center. This free event welcomes all ages to enjoy spring-themed activities and the beautiful surrounding scenery in Po‘ipū.

NTBG Environmental Journalism Program Now Accepting Applications

The Hawai‘i-based National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) is now accepting applications for its Environmental Journalism (EJ) Program which is designed for professional journalists (staff or freelance) working in broadcast, print, and online media. The immersive five-day program provides a background in tropical botany, ecology, and conservation, and is designed to enhance well-informed, accurate reporting on environmental issues with a focus on tropical and island systems. 

Dr. Michael S. Dosmann to be Awarded Fairchild Medal for Plant Exploration for 2019

Kalāheo, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, USA (January 15, 2019) — Dr. Michael S. Dosmann, Keeper of the Living Collections at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, has been named the 2019 recipient of the David Fairchild Medal for Plant Exploration. In an announcement from its headquarters in Hawai‘i, the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) recognized Dosmann for his outstanding contributions to botanical exploration and horticulture.

Twilight Tour

Check in at 5:30 p.m. at NTBG's South Shore Visitors Center (across from Spouting Horn in Poipu).

Join us for an after-hours tour of exploration and discovery in Allerton and/or McBryde Gardens. Guided by the moonlight, each tour is unique and based on the season and weather. Experience the Garden as it comes alive at Mother Nature's most mysterious time -- twilight. Tour size is limited to 20. This 2 ½ hour long tour involves about two hours of walking on light trails. Appropriate attire and closed footwear (no open slip-ons or heels) required. Flashlight provided.

Holiday Craft Fair

You're invited to the 15th annual NTBG Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, December 8 at the South Shore Visitors Center. Please join us for a day of holiday shopping and entertainment featuring NTBG plants and Kauai-made products, jewelry, clothing and more! Enjoy discounts in the NTBG Gift Shop, live music, and food from local food trucks.

Do you have Lanai Envy? National Tropical Botanical Garden has a Cure!

The annual Fall plant sale in on Saturday, September 22, 2018. NTBG Horticulture Manager, Erick Lux, has put together a pallet of plants to help you get that "lanai look" you've been longing for! Find the perfect plants for pots, planters, fad gadgets and life on the lanai. Member sale starts at 9:00 a.m. Admission for the general public starts at 10:00 a.m.

Na Waiwai - Garden and Sailing Adventure Tour Available

The NTBG has partnered with Holo Holo Charters to offer a combined Garden and Sailing adventure tour.
