Plant Description:
Stemless herb arising from underground tuber, only infructescence present at this time. Inflorescence an erect spike ca. 35 cm tall, peduncle ca. 20 cm, green mottled with brownish blotches, fruiting portion ca. 15 x 3-4 cm, fruits orange ripening red from top down. Seeds brown, 2/fruit. Seed voucher. Grown from seeds from The Kampong, Coral Gables, FL. [Leaf and inflorescence photos from earlier dates.] NTBG acc. #960564.004
