From Nature to Nursery
Mark Weathington shows how to get new plants into the trade
Coconut Grove, FL – Join us on Thursday, January 21 for The Kampong’s Lecture Series when Mark Weathington describes the process of getting superior plants into the hands of nurserymen. As Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at the JC Raulston Arboretum in North Carolina, Mark is responsible for introducing new plants to the nursery industry through controlled breeding and wild collection.
Learn about the hardships and headaches involved in plant introduction as Mark shares behind-the-scenes stories about his collecting trips to Korea and Taiwan.
The Kampong will open at 6:30 p.m. with a reception sponsored by Whole Foods Market. The lecture begins at 7 p.m. Tickets for the public are available with a suggested donation of $10. Please call (305) 442-7169. Kampong Members are free.
