BAREFOOT DANCING TO BLOND BOYS DURING MOONLIGHT & MUSIC

BAREFOOT DANCING TO BLOND BOYS DURING MOONLIGHT & MUSIC
Benefit for National Tropical Botanical Garden slated for August 13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kalāheo, Kaua`i, HI USA (July 24, 2011) - The Blond Boys will rock the night away at the August 13 benefit for the nonprofit National Tropical Botanical Garden. The event, scheduled to take advantage of the full moon, will be in NTBG’s McBryde Garden in the Lāwa`i Valley. This will be the fourth year of this annual event and the first year offering live music. This year’s event location is the `piko` near historic Pump Six and the border of the Allerton Garden.

Party-goers are encouraged to kick off their shoes and kick up their heels as the band treats them to hits from the 50s and 60s. Heavy pupus, champagne, wine, and beer will be served and guests may tour the heliconia garden during the outdoor event.

The evening, lasting from 6-10:30 p.m., begins with a ride into the valley from the visitors center in Po`ipū, with the experience of seeing the magnificent Lāwa‘i Bay and Allerton estate from a vantage point unavailable any other way. Part of the surprise when entering the garden is the journey down an old sugar cane train railbed through a passage hewn out of rock draped with maidenhair fern.

Proceeds from the event will help support the botanical garden, a not-for-profit, non-governmental institution, in its mission to perpetuate the survival of plants, ecosytems, and cultural knowledge of tropical regions. NTBG’s programs of discovery, scientific research, conservation, and education are funded primarily through donations and grants. The organization has its national headquarters on Kaua`i, as well as three gardens and two preserves of nearly 1,500 acres.

Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased by phone (808) 332-6500 or online at Moonlight & Music in the Garden. Sales of tables of 10 are available by phone.
