Dr. David Lee became interested in the history of The Kampong during his time as Garden director in 2007-2008. This led him to learn more about Dr. Eleanor Galt and Mr. Albion Simmons, who purchased the Coconut Grove property (now The Kampong) in 1892 and were its stewards for 18 years.
