Geographic Origin of Accession: Fiji
Locality: former SPC Regional Breadfruit Collection, Samoa: Upolu
Other Names: Ulu falaoa
Distribution: Variety from Rotuma, introduced to Samoa in early 1960s
Notes: The yellow flesh is tender and slightly sweet when mature. Has a tender, moist texture when cooked. Excellent for chips or "french fries."
This variety has been successfully propagated using micro-propagation and plants can be purchased from Cultivaris (http://www.globalbreadfruit.com).
Season: August-December with some fruiting in July and January.
