Living Collections (Horticultural) Assistant - Northshore Kaua`i
Full-time - Based at Limahuli Garden and Preserve, Hā`ena

This entry-level position will primarily assist the Living Collections Manager with maintaining the living collections and, at times, work as a part of a larger crew for other projects.

Duties include working in a lo`i, watering, pruning, weeding, planting, small equipment operating (including weedeaters and blowers), and other basic duties to maintain the garden and the collections.

Previous hands-on experience in horticulture and general grounds maintenance is a plus.

Volunteer Coordinator - Southshore Kaua`i
Full-time position - based at Headquarters, Kalāheo

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Volunteer Coordinator for the Headquarters campus and southshore locations.

The primary responsibility of the Volunteer Coordinator is to coordinate all volunteer activities and keep records of all pertinent volunteer information via a volunteer database. The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to handle all types of human relations issues; coordinate multiple tasks; and have exceptional organizational skills. Requires good computer and typing skills. Experience with volunteer groups preferred.

Visitor Program Assistant - Northshore Kaua`i
Casual hours position - based at Limahuli Garden and Preserve, Hā`ena

The Visitor Program Assistant is an entry-level position. Will work primarily in the Visitor Center greeting visitors and selling merchandise.

Duties include opening and closing the Visitor Center; welcoming, assisting, and interpreting garden to visitors; selling tours, merchandise and running cash register; keeping the gift shop presentable and appealing to visitors, doing daily accounting of Visitor Program income; maintaining clean facilities including restrooms; and leading guided tours if necessary.

Previous experience in retail and/or the visitor industry, as well as practical or formal training in biology or botany and Hawaiian culture and history is strongly recommended. Must work on Saturdays and also having a flexible schedule.

Conservation Technician - Southshore Kaua`i
This position in the Conservation Department requires a high school diploma and a minimum of one year of gardening experience. Employee will assist in technical functions of conservation programs, including restoration, curation, and propagation activities. Experience in invasive species control, site preparation, and native plant propagation is a must. Plant curatorial and nursery experience is desirable.

This position reports to the Director of Conservation and the Assistant Director of Living Collections and Horticulture, and will assist with grant-funded ecological restorations in collaboration with the Restoration Ecologist and staff working in curation and propagation.

Seeking an individual with excellent customer service to provide guided tours in the Allerton Garden and the McBryde Garden. Will train the right person. Must have a current Hawai`i CDL and be first-aid certified. Aloha spirit is required.
