Assistant Director of Conservation - based at NTBG Headquarters
Kālaheo, Kaua`i, Hawai`i

We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Conservation at the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Candidate should have a college degree in biological sciences or natural resources, or a related field (preferably with graduate or professional training), and at least three years of experience working in conservation in Hawai`i. Must have experience in supervising a diverse team and managing multiple projects.

Candidate must have a willingness to travel to other Hawaiian Islands and mainland locations on occasion, and to participate in extended overnight camping trips to work in remote locations. Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience in conducting invasive species control and restoration projects. Experience in developing funding proposals and contract/grant reporting is essential.

Salary dependent upon experience. Salary information will be provided to the successful candidate.

Office Assistant (Casual) - based at The Kampong
Coconut Grove, Florida

The Office Assistant will provide support for the Executive Office Administrator and the Director of The Kampong. This individual will help build and maintain the database for tracking and servicing Kampong donors, members, and other constituents. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal skills, and knowledge of database management (Raiser’s Edge used); must have understanding of and ability to learn basic accounting and be able to handle general office duties.

Responsibilities also include assisting with planning and the coordination of events, working with constituents and the public on site rentals for weddings, receptions, corporate events, and similar.

This individual will interact with a diverse group of people.

Note: This is a Casual position; no benefits; flexible schedule including evenings/weekends required to cover events.

Visitor Program Associate (P/T) - based at Southshore Visitors Center
Po`ipū, Kaua`i, Hawai`i

NTBG’s Visitor Services for its southshore gardens is seeking candidates for a Visitor Program Associate (Part-Time) position. This individual will work in the Gift Shop selling merchandise, stocking shelves, and assisting visitors. In addition, this person may be called upon to assist with displays, activities, and other projects as directed.

Part of the duties of the Visitor Program Associate will be to describe and book tour offerings, using an online reservations system. All candidates who wish to be considered must have excellent customer service skills and present well to the public; must be able lift 30 lbs. and go up and down a ladder.

Flexibility of work hours a must, which can or will include weekends and some holidays.

Tour Guide (P/T) - based at Lāwa`i Valley facilities

NTBG’s Visitor Services for its southshore gardens is seeking candidates for a Tour Guide (Part-Time) position. This individual will conduct guided tours in NTBG’s Allerton Garden and McBryde Garden, located in the Lāwa`i Valley. Training will be provided.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills — aloha spirit required. The individual must hold a current Hawai`i driver’s license. CDL will be required.

Flexibility of work hours a must; hours include weekends and most holidays.

Education Coordinator - based at NTBG Headquarters Campus
Kalāheo, Kaua`i, Hawai`i

We are currently seeking an Education Coordinator at the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Candidate should have a college degree with a minimum of two years of teaching experience, with at least one of those years in Hawai‘i. Knowledge of horticulture, conservation, native Hawaiian plants, and Hawaiian language and culture is preferable.

Candidate must be able to work effectively with all ages of students from pre-K through college. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Preference will be given to those having grant writing and reporting experience. This position requires flexibility in hours and days worked depending on groups coming to the Garden. Salary will depend upon experience and will be provided to the successful candidate.
